Public Policies cover permanent residence requirements

Validity time: 2025-03-31 to 2025-12-31

Eligibility of the principal applicant

  • has made an application under the Home Care Immigration Pilots, Stream A;
  • Physically present in Canada at the time the application was made;
  • Legally entered Canada with temporary resident status on or before December 16, 2021;
  • Has continuously resided in Canada since their authorized entry to Canada;
  •  Has authorized to work on a work permit at some point druing their time in Canada;
  • At time of the application, doesn’t have valid temporary resident status or is a visitor;
  • Is not subject to a removal order, and has not made a refugee claim in Canada.

Validity time: 2023-09-10 to 2026-09-10

The family members previously were barred to be sponsored due to not be available for examination. This public policy gives the non-examinated family members another chance to be sponsored.

Non-examed family members

Public policies cover work permit requirements

Validity time:

2024-05-27  to 2029-05-26

This policy exempts Hongkong residents, who have applied for permanent residence under the public policy created on June 21, 2021 to facilitate two permanent residence pathways, from work permit requirements. 

The eligibility conditions:

  1. is in Canada at the time of application and when the work permit is issued;
  2. is described at paragraphs 190(2)(d) or (e) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations;
  3. has submitted a work permit application under section 200 of Regulations or an application for a work permit renewal under subsection 201(1) of the Regulations, where the duration of the work permit requested is for a maximum of three years;
  4. has valid temporary resident status, or had temporary resident status that expired within 90 days of the date their application for a work permit referred to in (iii) was submitted;
  5. has made an application for the Temporary public policy creating two pathways to permanent residence to facilitate the immigration of certain Hong Kong residents or the Updated Temporary public policy creating two pathways to permanent residence to facilitate the immigration of certain Hong Kong residents, that has been accepted into processing and that application has not been withdrawn or refused;
  6. has previously been issued a work or study permit that was valid within the immediate three years preceding the date when the application in (v) was submitted; and
  7. has applied for restoration of temporary resident status, under subsection 182(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, if applicable.

This policy exempts Hongkong residents and their family members from work permit requirements. 

Hongkong residents and their family members can apply open work permit.
